Baby Doll, Barbie, and Teddy Bears

Here at dollsbyearlene.com we love everything that has to do with dolls! We love different types of dolls, their clothes, and other accessories. We also love plushies and in general anything that brings happiness and comfort, but dolls and teddy bears are our all-time favorites!

Dolls have been around for as long as history stretches back. From the beginning, we were inclined to make miniature representations of ourselves for various reasons. Dolls have been used as sacred symbols in rituals, and little girls have always wanted to play with dolls.

The charm of the baby doll will never wear off. They are adorable and give girls something to dote on. Many girls will gather with their baby dolls in tow, showing them off and showing how well they take care of their dolls. They cuddle them and “feed” them with their fake bottles. Older girls will change the doll’s clothes and “burp” it as well. This could lead to better nurturing skills later in life.

For younger girls, plush dolls such as rag dolls are probably best. This way they can have their toy dolls, but there is nothing for them to hurt themselves on. For older girls the list of toy dolls is extremely long. There are fashion dolls, Barbie dolls, and a multitude of different sized dolls as well. Children imitate what they see, and they love to play "house". In this sense, dolls can be educational toys, like board games.

One of the most popular dolls in America is, of course, the Barbie doll. Barbie and all her friends have swept the nation and captured the imaginations of millions of people. It isn’t just little girls who love Barbie either. Many adults love to collect Barbie dolls, and there are those that design them as well. Even the famous fashion designer Bob Mackie has turned his attention to designing for Barbie many times.

Collectible teddy bears aren’t a “doll” so much, but they have a tendency to fall into the same category. There are just as many different kinds of teddy bears as there are dolls. If you can think of a material, there have probably been bears made from it. Many bears are also either specially made for people to buy, or personalized at a store to make great gifts. The multitude of different teddy bears on the market is astounding.

For collectors there are also many amazing dolls that you can get to enjoy. Collectible dolls are in great demand, especially those by certain manufacturers or designers. Madame Alexander dolls are very popular, as are many Barbie dolls. Bride dolls are popular as well, and some people make entire collections just from brides. Some other collectors focus on fantasy themed dolls like fairies, or Native American dolls, or Victorian dolls. There is really no limit to the types of dolls you can choose to collect. Original dolls are probably some of the most valuable you can collect, and you can always find some to fit into your collecting style.

Some collectable dolls come with the added bonus of helping out certain organizations. There are some extremely lifelike baby dolls out there that are made to be the size of a premature baby. Sometimes the manufacturer of these dolls will donate a portion of all sales to a hospital, or organization that helps premature babies and their families. It seems we will never tire of having a wide variety of dolls around. If it can be imagined, dolls can be created to match it. Having our dolls makes us happy, whether it is baby dolls, Barbie dolls, or collectibles.
